Whether at home or in the garden, a habitation net will eventually accumulate dust and dirt. Since you lie on it for a nap or to read, it is best to keep the net clean.
Here are our recommendations for maintaining your mezzanine net or railing net, and preserving the good condition of the mesh and textile fibers for many years.
Do not use household cleaning products
The first thing to completely exclude from your cleaning techniques when it comes to habitation nets is the use of household cleaning products and detergents.
Regardless of the brand or composition, detergents and chemical products are too aggressive for the fibers of your net.
The risks are numerous: fiber hardening, discoloration, breakage, etc.
While our catamaran nets have an excellent lifespan, easily lasting ten years or even much longer, the use of household cleaning products for net maintenance could damage it and render it unusable in just a few years.
Do not use a wire brush
Have you noticed small smudges or dirt appearing on the net?
Be very careful about the accessories used for cleaning.
Do not use wire brushes or other equipment that could scratch and shear the net. No metal sponges or scrapers.
Do not use a steam cleaner
Although steam cleaners are often praised for their high cleaning capacity in the home and on all surfaces, they are not suitable for maintaining your habitation net.
A steam cleaner will expose the textile fibers to high temperatures, which can damage them.
Weakened, the meshes of your net risk breaking. Intense steam and high heat will also relax the textile fibers: your net may form hollows and pockets.
Once relaxed, the fibers lose their performance and it is not possible to effectively re-tension them. You would have to change your mezzanine net or railing net.
Dust the net
Dust and small dirt can accumulate on your catamaran net, especially if it is installed outdoors: on a terrace, balcony, or as a sunbathing area in the garden...
Remember to regularly dust the net with a soft dust cloth.
Avoid using accessories and equipment that could rub and scratch the net. Regular rubbing will eventually damage the textile fibers.
Wash with clear or soapy water
To wash your catamaran net, preferably use clear water.
The net is completely rot-proof and is not likely to be damaged by contact with water. No need to wipe it carefully, you can let it dry.
If stains and dirt appear on the net, you can clean it with soapy water.
For this, use hand soap, or dish soap that does not contain overly aggressive and stripping substances. An ecological or sensitive skin dish soap is perfectly fine.
Gently rub the stain with a cloth soaked in soapy water, then rinse with clear water.
Use a soft cloth
Whether for dusting or cleaning the habitation net, a soft cloth is recommended to preserve the good condition of the textile fibers.
Maintaining fibers in good condition is essential to ensure the good resistance of the net's meshes and to guarantee people's safety.
By following these recommendations, your catamaran net will last for many years and you will be able to enjoy it with complete peace of mind.
