Sheets: Essential Ropes for Sail Trimming

Sheets are essential marine ropes for sailing. They allow you to control the position, tension, and orientation of the sails relative to the wind.

Unlike halyards, which are used to hoist sails, sheets are directly involved in trimming them to optimize boat performance and ensure comfortable and safe sailing.

Each sail generally has its own sheet. By sheeting in (pulling it) or sheeting out (releasing it), the sailor adjusts the sail's angle according to the boat's point of sail and wind strength.
