Safety Standard
First of all, there is currently no specific safety standard for residential nets.
EN 1263 Fall Protection Net
You may see certified fall protection nets, which comply with the European standard EN 1263. We also manufacture them, but they are not intended for the same use.
A fall protection net, as its name suggests, meets a specific need: to prevent a person from falling.
This type of net is mandatory, for example, on construction sites (building construction, facade renovation, etc.).
However, on a construction site, access to the fall protection net is prohibited: no one should go on it, walk on it, or place objects on it.
Furthermore, it is for single use! After each incident, meaning as soon as a net has caught a person's fall, the net must be replaced.
Therefore, wanting to use a fall protection net to furnish a mezzanine or secure a staircase descent makes no sense: logically, as soon as it bears the weight of a person, it must be changed. This is not really what one envisions for a long-term fixture in their home.
Low-End Net
Any net you find on the market or in a store is not suitable for installation as a mezzanine net or railing net.
A cheap fishing net or decorative net, for example, will not have the necessary strength to safely support the weight of an adult.
High-End Residential Net
The residential net does not currently meet a strict specification. There are no rules or consensus.

The nets leaving our workshops are subject to quality control, to ensure everything is compliant: no mesh should be cut, no boltrope should be damaged. And we have had our nets tested!

Result: for a mezzanine net, for example, we achieved a resistance of +700 kg / m².

The Importance of Installation
At this stage, you will have understood that the choice of net and its manufacturing quality are essential criteria to check carefully. But that's not all!
If your installation is not reliable, you lose all the benefits of high-end equipment.
This is why we strongly advise against using a friable or hollow support, such as hollow brick or hollow concrete block, and instead choose the right support for the net's installation that is robust and made of solid material (concrete wall, wooden beam, etc.).
We also offer the appropriate fasteners for your net and its location. For example, we favor marine stainless steel for fastening an outdoor net, which will be exposed to bad weather and rain.
