Alsace Highline Record in Ribeauvillé

Table of contents

Highline: tightrope walking at altitude

Are you unfamiliar with highlining?

You've probably seen people in a park, garden, or forest enjoying balancing on a slackline: a tensioned strap, often between two trees, which they walk on.

Highlining is an even more challenging and impressive sport!

The slackline is suspended at a high, sometimes dizzying, altitude.
To practice highlining, athletes must combine physical effort and great concentration. Walking on a thin strap, hundreds of meters above the ground, is not for everyone.

Regularly, in France and around the globe, athletes organize events and try to break new records.

This time, it's about the Alsace highline record.

The organizers, Benoît Brume and Raoul Getraud, are not new to crossing suspended far above the void, as you can see in the following photos:

Event in Alsace from July 4 to 10, 2022

Come and watch this spectacle from July 4 to 10, 2022 in Ribeauvillé.
At over 250 m high, over a distance of 900 m starting from Château Saint Ulrich, athletes will attempt to set the Alsace Highline record.

Although most are Alsatian, some athletes will come from all over France and other countries for this high-altitude tightrope walking exercise (Canada, Switzerland, etc.).

In the heart of the Alsatian vineyard and with a view of the three castles of Ribeauvillé, this event will take place in a magnificent setting.
In addition to highline demonstrations throughout the week, you can also discover a photo exhibition, from 1 PM to 7:30 PM, at Sainte Catherine Chapel.

On Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, enjoy a free slackline initiation in Ribeauvillé's town garden. A friendly moment to share with family or friends, and perhaps inspire new vocations.

Finally, a concert by the band "Loya Champloo" will be offered on Saturday evening.

Corderie Gautier is pleased to be a partner of the event and to support the organization of this spectacle, which combines sporting performances, friendly encounters, and the promotion of a historic site of Alsatian heritage.
