Install a catamaran net at home

Table of contents

That's it, you're already imagining your future installation at home! You've chosen the residential net that will form a mezzanine or a railing, its color, its dimensions... You're imagining the decor and the new style it will bring to your home.

But... how do you install it once you receive it?
We're here for you, every step of the way!

Have a complete structure

The first thing to check before starting the installation of your residential net is that you have a complete structure to which it will be attached.

Whether it's a mezzanine net to fill a void above the living room, or a railing net to secure a balcony, there's no question of leaving one side of the net unsupported.

Take the example of the most common shapes, square or rectangle:
no side should be missing! The structure must be complete, so that the net is attached all around its perimeter. This is mandatory.

Choose the right support

A catamaran net can be installed on several types of supports, at home or outdoors.

The most demanding case is that of the mezzanine net: here, the catamaran net forms a real suspended floor, on which you and your family will walk and lie down.

The robustness of the installation must therefore be excellent, and you must leave nothing to chance.

We strongly recommend that you choose the right support for installing your residential net.

To put it simply, opt for a solid and very robust material:

  • Wooden beam
  • Steel beam
  • Solid concrete block
  • Concrete wall

Avoid all hollow, brittle, and fragile materials.

Depending on the type of use you will make of the catamaran net, as a railing or mezzanine, indoors or outdoors, attached to a wooden beam or steel, you will need to use residential net fasteners adapted to your situation.
We will recommend the best fastening accessories: stainless steel eye bolts, anchor rings...

Above all, avoid open or movable fasteners.
But that's not all!

Along the entire perimeter of the net, lacing must be done with a small, resistant rope designed for this purpose. Just like on the multi-hull sailboats from which the catamaran net originated, we use a gasket for this (a rope well known to sailing enthusiasts).

We always offer a gasket adapted to your project.

Prepare fixings at regular intervals

To firmly and securely attach your catamaran net to its support, we recommend installing fixings every 15 cm, all around the perimeter of the net.

This allows for good load distribution and secures the entire structure. With so many fixing points, your net will not move.

Take your time

Installing a catamaran net at home takes time.

The quality and rigor in the installation process are an integral part of the quality and reliability of your final result. For a safe and secure net, do not try to go too fast and skip steps.

The installation takes place in several stages, and it is important to follow them.
