Natural and ecological material

At Corderie Gautier, we offer bobbins and ropes made of natural cotton as well as organic cotton, to better respect the environment and your living space, by limiting synthetic materials in your home or garden. The untreated natural fibre limits potential allergy risks. The cords and bobbins are odourless and easy to wash.
Natural cotton rope is more resistant to heat than synthetic fibres, but it will also be more susceptible to humidity and mould. It is preferable to use this rope indoors or in a place sheltered from rain: cotton absorbs water very easily.
Another advantage is that this rope is easily and naturally recyclable.

DIY Macramé

Natural cotton rope is perfectly suited for macramé, for workshops and DIY decoration ideas.
This particular knotting technique allows you to create flat items like bracelets or necklaces, or three-dimensional items (curtains, wall decorations, etc.). Depending on the object to be made, flat knots or relief knots will be used for macramé.
Easy to learn through numerous DIY tutorials and creative hobby workshops, macramé is an original way to create your own 100% cotton interior decorations. Cotton bobbins and cords, with a diameter of 1 to 5 mm, allow for various creations.

String and Gardening

The cotton bobbin is also very useful in gardening or on a construction site.
Using two sticks or stakes, you can quickly and easily create a string line to trim your hedges or sow your vegetables and other aromatic herbs in the garden.
A cotton string line will be flexible and natural, releasing no plastic substances among your plants.
However, remember to store it away to prevent rot due to humidity, and to keep your bobbin longer.

Stranded Cotton

Our cotton ropes are available in stranded or braided construction. As a result, they tend to fray at their ends.
It is one of two types of marine ropes, both firm and flexible. Easy to splice, stranded rope is perfectly suited for decorative knots.
