Size Guide

Three criteria to define when configuring your rope: length, diameter, and attachment finish.

Step 1 — Choose the Length

The rope attaches above the climbing point. Measure the height of your attachment point, then subtract approximately 30 cm (12 inches) to get the appropriate rope length.

Rope Length Attachment Height
2.00 m (6.5 ft) 2.30 m (7.5 ft) and up
2.20 m (7.2 ft) 2.50 m (8.2 ft) and up
2.70 m (8.8 ft) 3.00 m (9.8 ft) and up
3.00 m (9.8 ft) 3.30 m (10.8 ft) and up
3.20 m (10.5 ft) 3.50 m (11.5 ft) and up
3.70 m (12.1 ft) 4.00 m (13.1 ft) and up
4.00 m (13.1 ft) 4.30 m (14.1 ft) and up
5.00 m (16.4 ft) 5.30 m (17.4 ft) and up
6.00 m (19.7 ft) 6.30 m (20.7 ft) and up
7.00 m (23.0 ft) 7.30 m (23.9 ft) and up
8.00 m (26.2 ft) 8.30 m (27.2 ft) and up
9.00 m (29.5 ft) 9.30 m (30.5 ft) and up
10.00 m (32.8 ft) 10.30 m (33.8 ft) and up
11.00 m (36.1 ft) 11.30 m (37.1 ft) and up
12.00 m (39.4 ft) 12.30 m (40.4 ft) and up

The stated length corresponds to the knotted rope, including the attachment. The bottom of the rope should remain approximately 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16 inches) from the ground.

Step 2 — Choose the Diameter

The diameter determines both the robustness of the rope and the comfort of grip. The larger it is, the more resistant the rope, but the less easy it is for small hands to grasp.

Diameter Audience and Use Grip
16 mm (0.63 in) Children, garden swing set, low height Fine, child's hand
18 mm (0.71 in) Versatile family use Intermediate
20 mm (0.79 in) Teens and adults, regular use Comfortable
22 mm (0.87 in) — best seller All audiences, communities, sports halls Full hand
24 mm (0.94 in) Adults, intensive use, obstacle courses Generous
26 mm (1.02 in) and up Tree climbing, collective leisure structures Very wide

For a family swing set, 20 to 22 mm (0.79 to 0.87 in) remains the best compromise between strength and comfort.

Step 3 — Choose the Finish

The top finish determines the attachment method, the bottom finish the appearance of the free end.

Finish Description Recommended for
Ring + marine stainless steel thimble Spliced on thimble, 316 stainless steel Permanent outdoor, seaside
Simple spliced loop Handmade loop, no metal Around a branch or beam
Stainless steel lyre shackle Quick release, adjustable height Rope regularly unhooked
Knotted bottom end Final stop knot Standard, included by default
Spliced bottom end Whipped finish, more aesthetic Sports halls, visible structures

Care advice

No special maintenance is required. Rinsing with clear water is sufficient to remove dust and dirt. Do not use solvents or high-pressure cleaners. Visually inspect the condition of the strands, knots, and fastening before each season of use.

A climbing rope designed to stay outdoors

The synthetic hemp knotted rope combines the warm look and natural feel of traditional hemp with the performance of a technical fiber. The textured polypropylene does not rot, does not absorb moisture, and is UV resistant: your rope can stay in place all year round, come rain or shine, without hardening or degrading.

It can be installed on a swing set, a tree branch, a structural beam, or a playground structure.

Why knots instead of a smooth rope?

Regularly spaced knots offer firm footholds and handholds. Climbing becomes accessible to a much wider audience: children, beginners, and occasional users. Where a smooth rope requires military-grade physical conditioning, a knotted rope allows for the creation of equipment and challenges that are both demanding and achievable.

It is the go-to piece of equipment for garden swing sets, high ropes courses, amusement parks, gyms with high ceilings, and multi-activity courses.

Handcrafted in France

Each rope is handmade in our workshops, using rope of French origin. The splices are made manually, without the addition of plastic parts: the finish is clean, flexible, and durable, unlike the crimped terminations found on entry-level products.

Fixing included

Depending on the chosen finish, the rope is delivered ready to use with its attachment system: marine stainless steel ring and thimble (very high corrosion resistance), simple spliced loop, or stainless steel shackle. No complex assembly is required.

Safety

The greater the attachment height, the more precautions are essential. Provide an appropriate landing area under the rope (gym mats, soft ground, wood chips, or sand) and, for less experienced users, a harness and belay rope. Regularly check the condition of the rope, knots, and anchor point. Rope delivered with its usage precautions.
