Size guide

How to choose the size of your hay net?

  • 100 mm mesh: limit hay waste, introduce the net to horses.
  • 60 mm mesh: slow down forage intake and prepare the horse for slow feeding.
  • 45 mm mesh: slow feeding.
  • 30 mm mesh: intensify slow feeding, for horses that handle it very well.

In summary: the smaller the mesh size, the more forage intake is slowed down to reinforce the practice of slow feeding.

Care advice
  • Remove small branches, roots, and debris from the net.
  • Wash with clear, cold water.
  • If the hay net is very dirty, wash it with a little Marseille soap or black soap.
  • Never use laundry detergent, cleaning agents, fabric softener, or bleach.

Product details

Very easy to use, this pocket-shaped hay net can be hung anywhere: post, fence, stable...
It allows you to provide forage to your horse while slowing down the ingestion rate and practicing slow feeding. This hay net also reduces waste and prevents the forage from coming into contact with moisture and mud on the ground.

Made with knotless mesh and 5 mm thick thread, it is comfortable for your horse while being durable. It can be used indoors or outdoors.

How to use the pocket hay net?

It can be hung or placed on the ground.
It attaches very easily to a post, a fence, a wall with a ring...
You can use a stainless steel snap hook to attach it. Prefer a model with a safety screw.

How to fill the net?

Usage is very simple: you fill the hay from the top of the net.

Small capacity

Pocket-shaped hay nets are smaller than bags, and much smaller than round bale hay nets.
On average, they hold 5 to 8 kg of forage.

What mesh size for your hay net bag?

The right mesh size depends primarily on your goal for your hay pouch net:

  • Do you mainly want to prevent waste or get your horse used to the net? Choose the 100 mm mesh.
  • Do you want to gradually slow down hay consumption? The 60 mm is a good intermediate step.
  • For slow feeding, opt for the 45 mm.
  • The 35 mm slows ingestion down even further and is intended for horses already very comfortable with small mesh sizes.
