Synthetic fiber resistant to weathering and acids.
UV-treated, does not absorb water, and is rot-proof.

See the summary table in the product sheet below.

Excellent value for money, polypropylene is an inexpensive synthetic fiber with very interesting technical characteristics, making it a versatile product.

Technical Characteristics

Rot-proof: this synthetic fiber rope does not mold or rot.
Water-resistant: polypropylene is very resistant to water and, crucially, does not absorb it.
Resistant to seawater.
Floats: very light with a density of 0.91, this rope floats on water, which prevents it from being lost and facilitates its use at sea or for river navigation.
Polypropylene rope is often used to make mooring lines and hawser lines. Large 8-strand ropes secure ships weighing several tons at the dock.
Low elongation: elongation of 10 to 15% on average.
Very good holding capacity for lashing loads and merchandise.
Abrasion resistance: good resistance to friction, good product lifespan.
Melting point: 160 °C
Resistance to acids and alkalis.

Uses of PP Rope

Inexpensive, durable, and very practical, this standard polypropylene rope has multiple applications for both professionals and individuals:

  • Construction
  • Masonry
  • Gardening
  • DIY
  • Tree climbing (accrobranche)
  • Mooring
  • Lashing
  • Lifting
  • Towing

It is used in construction for masonry work, lifting loads, or pulling (towing).
Polypropylene rope is also very practical for pulling cables on construction sites or in conduits: it resists abrasion and is inexpensive, so it is better to use this rope than more costly alternatives.

For gardening and outdoor work, PP rope is ideal because it is UV-treated and water-resistant: delimiting areas of a plot, marking lines and rows, tying tools, etc.
Standard PP rope is very practical for home DIY. Also used by professionals on farms or vineyards.

Polypropylene rope is also widely used for making gymnastic equipment, playgrounds, and tree-climbing courses.
As this rope can withstand heavy loads, water, and UV rays, and is inexpensive, it is used for swings, rope paths, climbing nets for children, etc.
Note that for a more natural look, there is textured polypropylene rope that imitates hemp.

Usage and Maintenance Tips

Polypropylene reels and coils can be stored outdoors.
Polypropylene rope is UV-treated but remains sensitive.
Direct UV rays from the sun or moon reflection degrade colors and fibers over the long term.

Avoid any contact with chlorine.

Poor knot retention: you can tie knots with this rope, but they tend to slip.

Do not expose to extreme temperatures.
