A catamaran net used indoors to fill a void in a mezzanine or to serve as a fall protection net is always custom-made with particular attention to detail.
Inspired by the Sea
High-quality household nets originate from the sea. Before becoming equipment used to furnish the interior of a house or loft, or to create an outdoor space, this type of net was used on multihull sailboats: catamarans.
The catamaran net connects the hulls at the front of the sailboat, separated by a large void.
It forms a robust platform on which one can walk and lie down. Boaters and vacationers love being able to relax on the catamaran net, just a few centimeters from the water and waves.
Necessarily, a catamaran net is weather-resistant and robust: it resists water, salt, sunlight… It supports the weight of one or more people. It does not tear at the first storm or when the sea is rough.
The idea of decorating and furnishing the interior of homes with this net has therefore spread.
Synthetic Textile Fiber
To withstand weather and elements for many years, the catamaran net is made from technical and high-performance synthetic textile fibers.
Generally, you will find different materials used to make a catamaran net:
- Polyester
- Polyamide
- Polypropylene
These fibers are well known to sailors because ropes for boats and sailboats are made from them. Depending on the use, you will find halyards, sheets, and mooring lines.
If these textile fibers resist a saline environment and UV for years, it is quickly understood that they will last even longer at home.
Custom Manufacturing
At Corderie Gautier, we have opted for 100% custom manufacturing.
We never mass-produce nets that are then stored in a warehouse.
Why this choice?
To guarantee you the best possible result!
The net must perfectly adapt to the void to be filled if you install a mezzanine net or integrate it into a terrace. Used as a guardrail net, it must perfectly secure a staircase or balcony, for example.
A prefabricated and sold-as-is net would, in fact, be unsuitable. For an optimal and secure result, you would have to build the terrace, the well, or the staircase according to the net: nobody does that!

Local Manufacturing in France
All our household nets are manufactured in France.
With Corderie Gautier, you make a responsible and more ecological purchase.
With us, you will not find prefabricated household nets from factories on the other side of the world, with an insane carbon footprint.
Moreover, to furnish a house or a garden, in addition to the catamaran net, we also make rope nets (hemp, or imitation hemp). And they are handmade in our workshops!
Artisanal Fiber Dyeing
Do you want a truly unique and original interior decoration that reflects your style?
We offer customization of the household net with a wide choice of colors. The textile fibers of the catamaran net are then mass-dyed.
The dyeing is done in the workshop, using an artisanal process. This explains why there are always slight color differences between the nets.
For you, it is also the guarantee of having a product truly designed for your project.
