Natural Hemp Rope

This hemp rope is made entirely of natural fibers.
The rope is laid and unpolished: the fibers are visible, for a more raw and authentic look.

The pine tar treatment makes this hemp rope more pleasant to the touch and more flexible: it is very easy to handle and use.

Moisture Resistance

Natural pine tar, also known as Stockholm tar, is a product derived from natural materials (carbonization of pine).
It has antiseptic properties and protects against water and moisture.

This hemp rope, which would naturally be very sensitive to water, is better protected against mold and moisture thanks to the pine tar.
It can be more easily used outdoors: ideal for garden decoration, wooden cabins, or for use with animals (horses, animal parks, aviaries…).

It can also be used in boating and river navigation, to restore an old sailboat or a traditional boat such as a toue cabanée, gabare, or fûtereau (typical Loire boats).

Tarred Hemp Rope

Due to its treatment, tarred hemp rope has a "smoky" scent.
Some people may find this smell too strong indoors: we recommend doing a test before redoing an entire decoration.
Note: the pine tar protection slightly reduces the breaking load of this rope compared to un-tarred hemp.
